Concept to Reality: A Practical Guide to Self-Producing Theatre Workshop Series

What:

Join the Sarah Siddons Artistic Council for a series of three workshops focusing on the creation, realization, and marketing of live performance projects. Participants may register for all three workshops or select individual workshops that are of particular interest.

Workshop 1: Idea Development

Date: Monday, February 10, 7pm–8:30pm

Location: Columbia College Chicago Student Center

754 S. Wabash Ave., Chicago, IL  60605

Workshop Leader: Peter Andersen (Artistic Director of Oak Park Festival Theatre and Siddons Artistic Council Member)

Peter Andersen will lead a workshop through a process of idea development. Participants will consider personal stories and mythologizing the self. Participants will research potential source material for current cultural relevance and brainstorm ideas that “collide” and provide the spark of inspiration.

Participants will explore:

  • What makes a compelling idea for content?

  • What individual perspective do you bring to the content as an artist and a human being?

  • What is the “research question” you are interested in exploring?

  • What have other artists done with this kind of material, and what has been the response?

Cost:

$15 per workshop or $35 for all three

or pay-what-you-can by donating here. (Be sure to put “Theatre Workshop in the notes”)
