A conversation about the artistic and practical work involved in bringing new musicals to the stage. Join members of the Sarah Siddons Artistic Council and guest panelists for a wide-ranging discussion about the creation of new works of musical theater. We will explore style, substance, format, audience, legacy and culture in a discussion of this very American art form—as well as Chicago's place in the development of new work.

Workshop 3: Building a Marketing Plan

Kayla Boye will lead a workshop focused on marketing strategy for your creative project and materials that can be used within that strategy including pitch decks, press releases, imagery, and other promotional content.

Workshop 2: Securing Resources

Kaiser Ahmed will lead a workshop focused on securing resources to support your creative idea. These might be resources of space or equipment, community partnerships, expertise, grant funding, audience development, sponsorships, and other opportunities to expand the reach of your idea.

Workshop 1: Idea Development

Peter Andersen will lead a workshop through a process of idea development. Participants will consider personal stories and mythologizing the self. Participants will research potential source material for current cultural relevance and brainstorm ideas that “collide” and provide the spark of inspiration.

Join us for a conversation about the art of self-producing in changing cultural, economic, and artistic times. We will explore self-producing both in theatrical and cinematic contexts through the lenses of artist, promoter, and cultural worker. We will also discuss how connecting with and building community are essential to the vitality and sustainability of the work.

Join us for this inaugural free 45 minute webinar, "Adjusting Your Path During A Pandemic", presented by the Siddons Artistic Council. This informal and lively conversation between two Chicago based multi-hyphenate artists, Kayla Boye and Donterrio, will focus on the artist repositioning themselves in a new role within their fields. The return to their dream job and a few Artistic Hacks from Kayla and Donterrio that will help with the uncertainty the artist may face. Attendees can submit questions on these subjects when they register. Some questions will be answered during the discussion on Monday, February 28th @ 7pm CST.
