Join Artistic Director Dominic Missimi for a “Night to Remember” at Ravinia’s performance of Leonard Bernstein’s MASS, Saturday, July 28 at 7:30 p.m. This monumental work, subtitled a Theatre Piece for Singers, Players and Dancers, will feature a cast of hundreds conducted by Bernstein’s protogee Marin Alsop, conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The work was commissioned by Jacqueline Kennedy for the opening of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. in 1971.
You will receive reserved space in a private tent with tables, chairs and linens and enjoy a full supper with beverages, wine and beer, in addition to a seat in the rear of the Pavilion, an ideal location to watch this spectacle. The cost for the evening will be $100. Guests may arrive two hours before the performance.
Mr. Missimi has directed two very successful productions of MASS for the Northwestern School of Music and School of Communication.
Mr. Missimi says “MASS is a unique entertainment. It is not a musical and not a concert, but a wonderful amalgam of classical and rock music, with children’s chorus, rock band, marching band, an enormous chorus and a stage full of opera, rock and gospel singers.
This is a private event, and not part of the Sarah Siddons Society theatre party offerings.
You can reserve a ticket by e-mailing Dominic at d-misismi@northwestern.edu.
