The Sarah Siddons Society funds scholarships to outstanding theatre students, enabling them to further their education in fine arts at Northwestern University School of Communications, The Theatre School at DePaul University and Columbia College and the Theatre Conservatory at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.

On the heels of its UK debut and wildly popular West End run, Chicago Shakespeare stages the North American premiere of SIX. The wives of Henry VIII join forces for an electrifying pop-concert spectacle—shining a spotlight on these six women as never before. The queens take the mic to reclaim their identities out of the shadow of their infamous spouse—remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an exuberant celebration of twenty-first-century female empowerment. Backed by a band known as the “Ladies in Waiting,” the all-woman ensemble traverses the spectrum of modern-day pop with a soundtrack that has stormed to the top of the UK charts.

Ms. Buckley, who has been called "The Voice of Broadway," is one of theater's most respected and legendary leading ladies. 2018 also finds her leading the national tour of the Broadway revival of Hello, Dolly, as Dolly Levi, opening in Chicago this October. Among her many illustrious credits, Betty Buckley is a Tony Award winner, Olivier Award nominee and American Theater Hall of Fame inductee.

The Cher Show, starring Stephanie Block and costumes by Bob Mackie is based on the life of Cherilyn Sarkisian La Piere Bono Allman or as her friends call her, Cher! Featuring her beloved chart-topping hits, The Cher Show will feature a book by Rick Elice (Tony Award-best Musical Jersey Boys), direction by Jason Moore (Tony Award-best Musical Avenue Q), choreography by Tony Award-winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies) and orchestrations, arrangements and musical supervision by Tony Award-winner Daryl Waters (Memphis).

This magical, ghostly tragedy will be created by directors Aaron Posner and Teller, of the famous magic team, Penn and Teller. Their production of THE TEMPEST last year was named the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Production and the two directors received the Best Direction award.
Meet MACBETH’S award winning director Aaron Posner at a pre-show chat with Artistic Director Dominic Misismi at 6:30 p.m. Location TBD. In addition to directing for many of America’s major theatre companies, Mr. Posner is also an award-winning playwright and his productions have been seen Off-Broadway and at major regional theatres throughout the United States. Mr. Posner is a graduate of Northwestern University and a former student of Mr. Missimi.

One of the most beloved romantic comedy films of all time is now a Broadway musical! Pretty Woman comes to the stage with a score by Grammy Award winner Bryan Adams and his longtime songwriting partner Jim Vallance, with a book by Garry Marshall and the film's screenwriter J.F. Lawton. The production is directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Hairspray). Samantha Barks (Les Misérables) stars as Vivian opposite Tony and Grammy winner Steve Kazee (Once) as Edward, with a supporting cast that includes Orfeh (Legally Blonde), Eric Anderson (Waitress), Jason Danieley (The Full Monty), and Kingsley Leggs (Sister Act).

Please join the Sarah Siddons Society for a delightful Summer evening in Paris on Wednesday, July 26. We will begin with dinner at the newest French Brassiere in the Loop, Cochon Volant at 5:30 pm. After dinner we will enjoy a production of An American in Paris. It is the thrilling story of a young American soldier, a beautiful French girl and an indomitable European city, each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of war.
Join us for SHE LOVES ME at the Marriott Theatre at Lincolnshire at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 8th. This delightful musical, based on the classic film LITTLE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER, is the creation of Jerry Bock and lyricist Sheldon Harnick, an alum of Northwestern University. Mr. Missimi will arrange a talk back with actors playing the leading roles in the production.
Join the Sarah Siddons Society for a full day bus trip on Friday, May 26 for the opening of an exhibit of our incredible Betty Rodgers photographs at the summer retreat of Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, Ten Chimneys, in Genesee Depot, Wisconsin. These photographs of early Sarah Siddons Society Award winners beginning with Helen Hayes, a frequent summer house guest will include interesting histories of our award winners as related to the Lunts and Ten Chimneys.
The first theatre offering will be the 2017 Waa-Mu Show, BEYOND BELIEF, on Sunday, April 30th at a matinee performance. This year the brand new musical will follow the journey of Superheroes coming to life on stage. The 2 p.m. performance will be presented in Cahn Auditorium on the Northwestern University campus. A short discussion about the history of the Waa-Mu Show will be given by Mr. Missimi at 1 p.m. in the theatre’s Burdick Conference Room. Mr. Missimi directed the show for 17 years.
